Introduction
In 2002, I moved to Korea, a country with 80% of it's terrain considered mountainous, and I soon found that I enjoyed strapping on a backpack and exploring the peaks that seem sprout up everywhere. Climbing even a small mountain has its own unique challenges and offers its own unique rewards. At first I tried to find mountains in Korea that progressed in size as my metaphor but I soon abandoned this idea in favor of mountains that I have have climbed that I feel mirror the challenge and journey that I experienced during the various stages of my MET Journey.
UBC Masters of Educational Technology Program
My journey through the MET program over the past few years at UBC has been very much like the challenges of climbing a mountain. That is why I chose the metaphor of climbing various mountains in Korea as my underpinning thread for this site. Some parts have been easier than others; there have been hills, there have been valleys, there have been sections that I felt I could not overcome, but in the end, the goal of reaching the top of the mountain has pushed me forward to this point. Where I can look out over all I have traveled over and enjoy the journey that I have taken.
Purpose
The purpose of this eP is to showcase artifacts, and reflections on those artifacts, from my past few years in the MET program. Most of these artifacts are my own creation but some are the results of group work. I hope that by examining these artifacts I can reflect on how studying in the MET program has changed my teaching practice and my outlook on education. I furthermore hope that those reading this ePortfolio might be able to gain something from going on this journey of reflection with me
Audience
The audience that this ePortfolio is aimed at is my fellow ETEC 590 students and my instructor. I am not a BC teacher so I don't require this course for my job. I also might show this to teachers at my school who are taking a different masters course to show them what I have been doing in my course and how I feel that the UBC MET program is a great path to take.
