“Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end.”
― Edward Whymper, Scrambles Amongst the Alps
Ascent
As you reach the end to the easier parts of a climb you start to feel that burn in your calves and begin to sweat a little. To counterbalance this discomfort you start to move away from the crowds near the bottom of the climb and begin to feel that you are getting in the groove. This section represents that time in the climb when you hit your stride and feel that you are getting a good rhythm and pace going. The next mountain I chose to represent this section is not famous in Korea but it is the mountain that I have the most experience on and enjoy climbing the most. Mt. Bukhan is found in the North of Seoul and is a stones throw from my school. It rises above the city and offers some of the most beautiful views of this mass of humanity I have come to call home. The courses in this section are meant to represent a challenge to me but were very much in my comfort zone. I felt that these courses were easier to me because they were more grounding on the practical side of my teaching skill set.
